The Neighborhood Services Department hosted the Bristol Park Street Information Fair on Saturday, September 28. The event was designed to:
- Promote the upcoming Bristol Park Neighborhood master planning process
- Provide an update regarding the Bristol Park Neighborhood Improvement Plan implementation efforts
- Promote the formation of a Garwood neighborhood group
Neighborhood Services partnered with Hip Hop Xpress to implement the event which included resource information provided by Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County, Champaign Unit 4 Schools, Community Elements, Champaign County Regional Planning Commission/ LIHEAP, University of Illinois Law Clinic, University of Illinois Bruce D Nesbitt Center, Frances Nelson Medical Clinic, Metanoia Center/Northend Youth Council, Access Initiative, Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department, City of Champaign Police and Neighborhood Services Departments. Additionally, Neighborhood Services staff provided informational facts related to Bristol Park Neighborhood improvement efforts. Other community partners from the Beardsley Park Neighborhood Association prepared and served food, and students from the University of Illinois Bruce D Nesbitt Center engaged neighborhood youth and provided face painting.
Residents asked questions regarding the plans for the neighborhood during a group presentation and later provided direct feedback regarding specific neighborhoods, particularly the Garwood Area Addition. This achieves one of the primary goals for the engagement.
