City of Champaign Announces Neighborhood Services Director Appointment

Champaign City Manager Dorothy Ann David announced today that Kerri Wiman, currently the City’s Neighborhood Programs Manager, has been promoted to the position of Neighborhood Services Director effective November 6, 2017.

Ms. Wiman has served in the City of Champaign’s Neighborhood Services Department for nearly 18 years. She was hired as the City’s Housing Program Coordinator (later retitled Community Development Specialist) in 2000, and was promoted to Neighborhood Programs Manager in 2007. She holds a Bachelor-Administrator of Justice degree from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s of Public Administration degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

“Kerri’s leadership experience and long history of service to our community made her the best choice to serve as our next Neighborhood Services Director,” said City Manager Dorothy Ann David. “She has proven her dedication to working collaboratively with City departments, local agencies, and our diverse community to promote neighborhood wellness and improve the quality of life across Champaign. She has demonstrated an expertise for managing complex housing resources, overseeing impactful community redevelopments, and implementing effective neighborhood stabilization efforts. Kerri is a well-known and respected member of the City organization and I’m very pleased to promote her to the Director position.”

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue serving the City of Champaign as its new Neighborhood Services Director,” said Wiman. “I look forward to leading collaborative efforts between City departments and community stakeholders to provide a comprehensive response to neighborhood issues. I am honored to serve our City Council, City Manager, and the City’s residents, and will continue the neighborhood-based efforts that make Champaign such a wonderful place to call home.”

Ms. Wiman was selected through a nationwide search following the resignation of former Director Kevin Jackson in May 2017. Ms. Wiman’s annual salary will be $122,000.
