The online registration for the next Residential Electronics Collection event for participating communities in Champaign County will open on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 8 a.m. The link to the online registration system is: http://ecycle.simplybook.me/The collection event takes place on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Parkland College, 2400 W. Bradley Avenue, Champaign (residents need to use the Duncan Road entrance into Parkland College).

Only residents who live in the participating communities can register: Bondville, Broadlands, Champaign, Gifford, Homer, Ivesdale, Ludlow, Mahomet, Odgen, Rantoul, Royal, Sadorus, Savoy, St. Joseph, Thomasboro, Urbana, and unincorporated Champaign County.

Residents can reserve one of the 15-minute time slots available between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Immediately upon reserving a time, the resident will receive an email and/or text message confirming their reserved time. Then five to seven days before the event, residents will receive a postcard in the U.S. Mail, which will serve as their “ticket” into the event.

Information regarding accepted items can be found on the registration website. There will be a two TV limit per postcard (all types, models, and sizes of TVs are accepted, working and nonworking) and a 10-item total limit per postcard.

This event is co-sponsored by City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Champaign County Regional Planning Commission, Champaign County Probation & Court Services, and Village of Savoy. The event will be held rain or shine. Severe weather will increase wait times, but the wait is still minimal. The weather would have to get very severe before it is cancelled.

The online registration will remain open until all of the 15-minute time slots are full. There will be approximately 1,280 spots available. Please feel free to direct any event related questions to Nichole Millage, Environmental Sustainability Specialist, at [email protected] or (217) 403-4780.
