Neighborhood Services Staff Attends Annual Winter Legislative Conference in Washington

Neighborhood Services Director Kevin Jackson and Neighborhood Programs Manager Kerri Spear attended the annual legislative conference of the National Community Development Association (NCDA)  in Washington, D.C. from February 15-17. In addition to participating in roundtables and forums regarding US Department of Housing and Urban Development issues, staff also met with Senator Tammy Duckworth and her general counsel, Ericka Moritsugu (former Assistant Secretary, HUD). The group discussed projects like CommUnity Matters and Bristol Place, which rely on federal HUD funds (Community Development Block Grant, Section 108 Loan and HOME Investment Partnership Program). Staff also extended an invitation to host Senator Duckworth during National Community Development Week (April 17-22, 2017), and will be following up with additional information regarding the City’s use of CDBG, HOME and the NCDA week’s activities.
