Narrative: Champaign Fire Department responded to a report of a working fire at 702 Crescent Dr. on June 17, 2014. Upon arrival, fire crews found a resident outside of the building stating that the stairs within the apartment building were on fire. Fire crews advanced a single hose line into the structure and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Fire investigators arrived on scene to perform the initial cause investigation. Investigators were able to determine that the fire was intentionally set and ruled arson. No civilian or fire department personnel injuries were reported. This case has been turned over to the Champaign Police Department for further investigation.
