In order to repair a major gas leak, Bradley Avenue, between Market Street and Fourth Street, is closed. Other intersecting roads closed in the area of the leak are: Oak Street at Bradley Avenue; North Chestnut Street at Bradley Avenue; and North Clock Street at Bradley Avenue.
Oak Trace Apartments on Bradley Avenue were evacuated. The Champaign Fire Department is monitoring the area for gas readings and have found no elevated readings in any buildings in the area.
The closure began on the morning of Tuesday, May 27, 2014, when the gas leak was reported. At this time, Ameren is projecting the repair to take a minimum three hours.
