2013 Concrete Street Maintenance Project – Fourth Street

As part of the City’s 2013 Concrete Street Maintenance Project, the pavement on Fourth Street from University Avenue to Vine Street will be rehabilitated. This work involves patching of the existing concrete pavement, sidewalk repairs and lawn restoration. The City’s contractor for the project, GM Sipes Construction, will begin work Monday, August 12, 2013, weather permitting.

During construction, Fourth Street will be a southbound one-lane, one-way street from Columbia Avenue to University Avenue. A Marked Detour will be provided for northbound traffic on Fourth Street. The contractor will provide a flagger as needed to help direct traffic.

Please pay close attention to construction signs, traffic control devices and marked detours. Please do not park on the street near the construction site or in areas that are posted “No Parking.” Please proceed cautiously through construction zones and use alternate routes whenever possible. The contractor will attempt to complete construction activities as soon as possible to minimize any inconvenience to the residents in the areas of construction.

The City of Champaign would like to thank you for your cooperation and patience during this construction season. A map showing this location along with all 2013 City Engineering Division projects can be found at www.ci.champaign.il.us/pwd, click on “2013 Construction Maps” under “Timely Topics.”
