Police 101

On March 27th, the Champaign Police Department hosted the first of four Police 101 sessions, a 4-week mock police academy for adults. The first pilot session included a “test” group of community members and news reporters. The program is held on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. and runs through April 17th at the ILEAS Training Center, 1701 E. Main Street in Urbana.

The mission of Police 101 is to educate the community on fundamental police work with the use of realistic hands-on situations and use of force simulators with professional instructors. Students learn how officers respond to calls, conduct traffic stops, and more. Experience what police officers experience in their careers as they protect and serve our community.
