Community Presentations by Champaign Police Department Officers

On February 26, 2013, a North Patrol Officer spoke to approximately 20 students at Prairie Elementary School in Urbana. The 9-11 year old students are participants in the Illinois Mentor Program and the Officer’s presentation was part of the Mentor Program’s “Heroes in the Community” Event. The event is aimed at getting children interested in how they can affect their community. 

On February 7, 2013, Officer Ben Newell spoke to a group of kids participating in Community Helpers Week as part of their Mother’s Morning Out Program. Officer Newell described what it was like to be a Champaign Police Officer.
