Green Street Lane Closure (between State Street and Randolph Street)

In order to complete pavement patching, Illinois American Water and Shaw Brothers will close one westbound lane of Green Street between State Street and Randolph Street.  The closure will begin on Wednesday, November 15, and will reopen by Monday, November 20, 2023. Both eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained during the work.


Prospect Avenue and Green Street Lane Closures

In order to perform storm sewer repairs, SNC Construction will be closing westbound Green Street at its intersection with Prospect Avenue.  Westbound Green Street traffic will be directed to turn north or south on Prospect Avenue.  Eastbound Green Street will remain open to traffic with only a slight lane shift through the intersection. Mattis Avenue Lane Closure – EXTENDED

In order to complete pavement patching at 1915 S. Mattis Avenue, Anderson Brothers 3 has closed one southbound lane of Mattis Avenue between Cypress Drive and Ivy Court. The closure began on Wednesday, October 25, and will reopen on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.  During the closure, southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.


Neil Street Lane Closure and Traffic Shift (between Columbia Avenue and Washington Street)

In order to complete pavement patching, AT&T and Western Utility will close one southbound lane of Neil Street between Columbia Avenue and Washington Street.  The closure will begin on Monday, November 13 and will reopen on Thursday, November 16, 2023, weather permitting.  Northbound traffic will continue through this area, shifting around the construction zone.  One […]

Kirby Avenue Lane Closure (between Oak Street and Neil Street)

In order to repair storm sewer, A&R Services and the University of Illinois will close one westbound lane of Kirby Avenue between Oak Street and Neil Street.  The closure will begin on Monday, November 13 and will reopen on Friday, November 17, 2023.  Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in the area.

Certified Welcoming Award

On November 7, 2023, the City of Champaign hosted a reception to celebrate that it had been recognized as a Certified Welcoming place by Welcoming America, becoming the only municipality in Illinois to achieve this distinction.
