What kinds of City records can I get?

The Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) very broadly defines the information which you can request from the City. It covers all public records, including electronic information.

Who do I ask?

Before submitting a FOIA request, you might search the City website for the information you are looking for. The most popular information is available online, such as Council agendas and minutes, and meeting recordings.

How much will it cost?

Paper copies: $0.15 per page –  First 50 pages free
Computer Records: $0.75 per CD; $1.00 per DVD
Police Records: Contact the Police Department for fees specific to Accident/Police Reports
*Fees Pursuant to 5 ILCS 140/6(b) of the Freedom of Information Act
