Also known as Encephalitis Control. The City of Champaign participates with the Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department, Village of Savoy, and the City of Urbana in Encephalitis Control. The program is aimed only at control of mosquito species that carry the encephalitis disease. Control is accomplished by identifying breeding areas for targeted species and treating those areas to prevent development of larvae into adult mosquitoes. The City does not have an adult mosquito eradication program and does not target nuisance mosquitoes.
