About the Task Force
The Champaign Municipal Code calls for the City Council Compensation Task Force to be reconstituted every six years. Appointments to the Task Force were approved by Council Bill Number 2018-065 on May 15, 2018. The Task Force recommends adjustments to compensation levels for the Mayor and Council for future terms and is advisory only. The City Council must take action on the recommendations of the Task Force.
The duties of the Task Force are to:
- Study the personal expenses of members serving on the Champaign City Council.
- Compare the duties and compensation of the City Council with Councils in other jurisdictions of similar size within the State of Illinois.
- Make specific recommendations as to the amount of compensation the Mayor and each Council member is to receive.
