Impact Outreach Worker Attends CUPHD Justice Coalition Documentary Screening

On October 11, Impact Outreach Worker Kellen Brown attended the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District’s (CUPHD) Justice Coalition event, which featured a screening of the PBS documentary Discovered Truth: A Healthcare Journey. The screening took place at the Independent Media Center and brought together a diverse group of community members and organizations dedicated to promoting health equity and justice.

Local vendors and advocacy groups, including Be Smart for KidsUniquely Blended Mood Modifiers, and the C-U Reparations Coalition, were present to share resources and connect with attendees. Following the documentary, local artists Jarrel Young and DJ Caleb Mutua energized the audience with live performances that reflected the themes of resilience and healing highlighted in the film.

The event concluded with an open discussion, giving participants an opportunity to share personal stories, reflect on the documentary’s message, and exchange ideas about improving healthcare access and equity in the Champaign-Urbana community.
