The Neighborhood Relations Division hosted the 2025 Targeted Neighborhood Clean-Up Event on September 27, 2025. During the event, 132 Champaign households dropped off unwanted bulk items at the Republic Urbana Transfer Station, to be disposed of at no charge to the resident. A total of 12.7 tons of refuse was dropped off over a period of three hours, filling 17 dumpsters. Additionally, a total 50 households with senior and/or disabled residents are receiving free curbside pickup from the City. Champaign Public Works coordinated the pickup as part of the cleanup event, and has already collected more than 3000 pounds of material during the last two weekends. Public Works will complete an additional pickup on October 4, 2025. The targeted cleanup is the Neighborhood Services Department’s official start to “Good Neighbor Week”, which took place nationally from September 29 to October 4, 2025.
