Annual CU Days Event Brings Opportunity to Connect

On Saturday, August 9, City elected officials and staff participated in CU Days, a lively community event hosted by the Champaign Park District at Douglass Park. Departments represented included the City’s Equity and Engagement and Planning and Development Departments, along with the Champaign Police and Fire Departments. City representatives distributed school supplies to children, engaged with neighbors while gathering feedback to help shape the City’s Downtown Plan and promoted community safety efforts at the event. This plan will help to guide the City in its efforts to make Downtown Champaign a more vibrant, welcoming, and accessible place for all. Residents offered valuable insights on key priorities, including enhancing public transportation, expanding green spaces, increasing affordable housing, and supporting local businesses. Events like CU Days provide an excellent opportunity to connect with residents and ensure their voices and priorities guide the future of our community.
