Charges Filed in June 8, 2025, Shooting Investigation

A Champaign man has been charged for his role in a June 8, 2025, shooting incident that injured a Champaign teenager.

Champaign Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Burr Oak Court at 10:19 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, following reports of a shooting with injuries in the area. On-scene, officers quickly located a 13-year-old teenager with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds and immediately began to render medical aid. The teen was transported to an area hospital. He remains hospitalized, receiving ongoing treatment. Additionally, a 15-year-old victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the hand was treated at an area hospital and released in relation to this incident.

The investigation indicates that multiple subjects were involved in an altercation in this area when shots were fired and the victims were struck. The gathered group then quickly fled before officers arrived. In addition to the injuries, damage has been located to one building and one vehicle stemming from this incident. Investigators have determined that among those responsible for the gunfire was Kejuan Jenkins, 27, of Champaign. Jenkins was already in the custody of the Champaign County Correctional Center on unrelated charges. On June 25, 2025, Jenkins was charged with Attempted Murder in relation to this case.
