On Wednesday, April 23, News, Brews, and Beatz marked its 10th episode with a special live recording at Campbell Hall. Titled “It Takes a Village: The State of Champaign-Urbana’s Black Community Through the Lens of Key Black Leadership,” the program delved into pressing issues and promising opportunities within the local Black community, with a focus on youth development, education, and community safety.
Community Relations Manager Tracy Parsons co-facilitated the engaging conversation, joined by a distinguished panel of leaders: Urbana Police Chief Larry Boone, Urbana School District 116 Superintendent Dr. Sheila Boozer, Reverend Rickey Parks, and Joe Stovall, State Farm Agent and CEO of First-String Inc. The evening also featured a live performance from musical artist Ryan Byfield, adding another lively element to the powerful dialogue.
The show will air on May 12th on the News, Brews, and Beatz YouTube playlist as well as their website.
