On March 14-15, 2025, staff from the Equity and Engagement Department and the Police Department attended the Healing Solutions for Healing Communities Summit at the I Hotel. This event, sponsored by the Champaign County Community Coalition, Healing Illinois, and the University of Illinois School of Social Work, focused on community building, healing, and resilience.
The summit included interactive workshops, presentations, and wellness exercises addressing trauma-informed practices, safe spaces, and community support. Participants gained insights into fostering healing and building stronger environments through shared understanding and empathy.
On March 15th, staff served as judges for the “Pitch for Change” competition, where community members collaborated on local solutions, contributing to positive community change. The event concluded with a resource vendor fair highlighting community resources for healing, wellness, and inclusion. The Champaign Police Department provided information on scam prevention, while the Equity and Engagement Department showcased the City’s Human Rights Ordinance and invited participants to create self-portraits celebrating diversity.
