The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in fume extractor and dust collector outside building “T”, Parkland College, 2400 W. Bradley Ave., Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 1:37 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.
Firefighters responded to smoke coming from the “T” building. Upon arrival, crews reported smoke coming from a fume extractor and dust collector on the outside of the building. The building was searched by firefighting personnel to ensure all occupants were safely evacuated while additional crews worked to gain access to the fire inside the equipment and extinguish the fire. Firefighters deployed a single hose line, and the fire was extinguished with less than 1500 gallons of water. There were no injuries reported for civilians or emergency responders.
