On Sunday, February 2, 2025 staff from the Equity and Engagement Department were in attendance at the inaugural FusionFest at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. The FusionFest was a Lunar New Year Celebration ringing in the 2025 Year of the Snake with a vibrant explosion of culture! This event was cosponsored by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at U of I and the New American Welcome Center.
Lunar New Year, a cherished holiday across East and Southeast Asia, marks a fresh start and a time for community. This special event delivered an exciting evening where people from all backgrounds came together to experience the rich and diverse traditions that make our community so special. FusionFest was a celebration of Asian cultures with more than 18 unique performances from local children’s groups to internationally renowned performers, and everything in between. This was a true testament to the power of community and a joyful way to welcome the Lunar New Year!
