The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-family home in the 1300 block of Winding Ln., Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 6:45 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
Firefighters responded to the report from an occupant of a fire in this two-story home. Once on the scene, firefighters reported moderate smoke coming from the side of the residence. All the occupants were out of the building at the time of the fire department arrival. Crews deployed multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire.
The cause of this fire is not determined as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported. One cat was rescued from the fire. The occupants will be displaced because of this fire.
