DEI | Microaggressions Training

On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Janel Gomez, Community Relations Manager in the Equity and Engagement Department was invited to speak at Keller Williams Realty Lunch and Learn about microaggressions. Microaggressions are subtle, often unintentional, words or actions that communicate negative or derogatory messages towards a marginalized group. These can be verbal, nonverbal, or even environmental and can stem from unconscious biases. While the person making the comment may not intend to cause harm, microaggressions can be hurtful and damaging, as they often invalidate or demean the target individual’s identity or experience. This training was available to all Keller Williams staff to give them the tools to identify micro-aggression and how to to handle difficult conversations about this topic.
