The Champaign Fire Department responded to an exterior fire at a home in the 3200 block of York Dr., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 9:17 p.m. Fire crews were able to contain the fire primarily to the exterior of the home.
Firefighters responded to the report from an occupant of a fire at this single-family home. Once on the scene, firefighters reported smoke and fire coming from the exterior of this single-story residence. Crews deployed a single hose line and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
The cause of this fire is accidental and has been attributed to improperly discarded smoking materials. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.
