Summer Kickoff Celebration at Hedge Pop Park

On May 26, 2023, the City of Champaign came together to host a Summer Kickoff Celebration at Hedge Pop Park. The City’s Equity and Engagement Department, with the assistance and support of the Police, Planning, Public Works, and Neighborhood Services Departments were there to make sure this was the best event possible. Multiple Blueprint partners, community organizations, and volunteers from around the community also provided much needed support. CU Church volunteered to provide free food for the event. The official Illini gameday DJ, DJ TAT, provided music. Programs like this are aimed at providing opportunities for kids to participate in fun activities and learning experiences. By providing new and unique opportunities, we hope to broaden the horizons of the children in our community. The goal is to bring the community closer together and keep the kids of our community safe. This event was the first of six engagement activities planned by the Equity and Engagement Department at Hedge Pop Park over the summer. These events will feature art activities, hands on gardening, STEM experiences, and a back-to-school party.
