On May 15, 2023 the Communities of Practice team met to continue work on implementing the Welcoming Plan. This team is made up of leadership across the county from City departments, not-for-profits, and other public service entities. The Welcoming Plan is a set of strategic initiatives to welcome immigrants and better integrate foreign-born residents into our social, cultural, and economic fabric. The group was excited to welcome Briana L. Broberg who is the Midwest Regional Manager for Welcoming America. Welcoming America is a nonprofit leading a movement of inclusive communities becoming more prosperous by ensuring everyone belongs, including immigrants. Briana will be working with the City and its partners as we continue to pursue our Welcoming City status with Welcoming America.
