The Public Works Engineering Transportation Section will change the speed limit on University Avenue between First Street and Wright Street from 35 mph to 30 mph. This adjustment aligns with the change made by the City of Urbana wherein the speed limit on University Avenue east of Wright Street was lowered to 30 mph. University Avenue west of First Street in Champaign already has a 30-mph speed limit.
To effectuate the change, the following traffic control action will be implemented: All existing 35 mph signs on University Avenue between First Street and Wright Street will be replaced with 30 mph signs to be installed in the same locations. The signs are scheduled to be replaced on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
