Resource Fair for Displaced Residents

On Friday and Saturday, January 20-21, the community came together to support residents of Champaign Park Apartments who had recently been displaced.  The Equity and Engagement Department, in collaboration with the Neighborhood Services Department and other community organizations, hosted a resource fair at the Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department and Y on the Fly.  Nine community organizations, including those below, were present to provide guidance to families seeking support.  Organizations were able to provide housing support, legal consultation, nutrition advice, and other in-kind resources to aid in family wellness.

  • Housing Authority of Champaign County
  • CU Public Health District
  • Champaign Township
  • CU Tenant Union
  • Express Employment Professionals
  • Land of Lincoln Legal Aid
  • Trauma and Resilience Initiative
  • Regional Planning Commission
  • Unit 4 School District

The resource fair was a success with roughly 50 attendees who were provided food and drinks, as well as toys and activities for children and families to take home. Tenant transportation to and from the resource fair was provided thanks to the generous support of the Housing Authority of Champaign County, as well as through collaboration with City staff.
