The City of Champaign has a great opportunity to get involved in the community through a program called Adopt A Drain which allows residents to adopt storm drains in their neighborhoods. Volunteers clear the drains 4x per year and before forecasted heavy rain events.
Today’s featured available drain is located at 407 S. New Street and is named Donnie. Staff went out and cleared Donnie and he went from being completely covered in leaves to looking brand new! Clearing the drain takes about five minutes and makes a huge difference in reducing potential flooding and keeping debris out of our lakes and streams.
