The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a residence at 1210 N. Walnut St. on May 31, 2022, at 8:31 p.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in this single-family home.
Firefighters responded to a report from a neighbor of a fire in this two-story residence. Once on the scene, firefighters reported smoke coming from the eaves and fire coming from the side of the home. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. One firefighter was treated on scene for overexertion, but was not transported. The occupant was not home at the time of the fire and will be displaced because of the damage.
