On May 11, 2022, the City’s Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments participated in the Champaign Park District’s Touch-A-Truck event at Centennial Park. The four-hour event gave kids and parents an opportunity to get up close and personal with several unique vehicles from the City’s fleet, including a squad car, SWAT truck, crime scene van, ladder truck, dump truck, and even a John Deere tractor.
Staff at the event shared information about the vehicles and their specialized uses, provided demonstrations of equipment, and gave out lots of fun giveaway items.
