Patrick Bolger, a Building Inspector for the Building Safety Division, spoke to Parkland College’s Residential Building Systems class about residential building codes and available careers in both code enforcement and the trades. As skilled carpenters, plumbers, and electricians retire, there are not enough entering the trades to take their place. Patrick was able to share information on different career paths through the trades and help demystify the driving force behind codes.
