On December 8, the Champaign County Community Coalition hosted its monthly meeting in person at the Holiday Inn, Champaign. Law enforcement leadership from Champaign, Urbana, the Sheriff’s Dept., and U of I and Parkland Police Depts. shared updates regarding community violence as well as community engagement initiatives such as “Shop With a Cop.” CU Public Health Dept. shared a COVID-19 update with information regarding vaccines and local testing data. City of Champaign staff delivered a 2021 Community Coalition Year in Review. There were also community updates regarding the United Victory Over Violence Solutions Grants, Restorative Justice, Illinois Public Media’s News, Brews, and Beatz, and the MLK Countywide Celebration.
