Shooting Investigation – Town Center Boulevard and North Prospect Avenue

On Oct. 24, 2021, at approximately 1:13 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the area of Town Center Boulevard and North Prospect Avenue for the report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old male inside a vehicle with a single life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident and the occupant(s) of one of the vehicles fired at the other vehicle, striking the victim, and causing the victim’s vehicle to crash in the nearby area where officers located the injured male.

Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to notify the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
