Neighborhood Safety Meeting Held at Champaign Park Apartments
The Community Violence Response Task Force (CVRT), a working group of the Champaign County Community Coalition, hosted a Neighborhood Safety Meeting at Champaign Park Apts. on Monday, August 16. City staff Mary Catherine Roberson (ECHO) and John Ruffin (NSD) assisted with facilitation of the event, sharing information regarding crime in the complex as well as encouraging interested residents to establish a registered neighborhood group through the City’s Neighborhood Services Department. This event also gave Champaign Park Apt. residents an opportunity to share neighborhood safety concerns and brainstorm solutions with property management. Information gathered from these meetings assists with community mobilization in neighborhoods impacted by community violence.
CU Trauma and Resilience (CU TRI) shared information and resources regarding mental health support and coping with signs and symptoms of trauma. The complex’s property management provided school supplies for families in attendance.
