City of Champaign Requires Masking Inside City Facilities Starting August 2

Starting Monday, August 2, 2021, the City of Champaign will require all visitors and employees to wear masks inside City facilities. This includes those attending public meetings, including City Council, Board, and Commission meetings. This change is in accordance with CDC and local public health recommendations for areas with substantial and high COVID-19 transmission rates, which includes Champaign County.

Members of the public who request in-person customer service inside City facilities will be required to wear face coverings or masks. This includes individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. For members of the public who prefer to not observe the mask requirement, the City will continue to offer customer service by phone, email, virtual meetings, and through the City’s website.

The City of Champaign thanks the public for its patience and cooperation with this change, which was implemented to promote community health and safety. The City will continue to work with local public health officials to monitor local COVID-19 transmission rates and will make adjustments to this masking requirement as appropriate.
