Shooting Investigation – 300 Block of West Bradley Avenue

On July 9, 2021, at approximately 2:53 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 300 block of West Bradley Avenue for the report of a fight, which escalated into a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of shots fired in the 300 block of West Bradley Avenue and were soon notified a 29-year-old Champaign male arrived by private transport at a local area hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The injured male’s condition is not known at this time but is believed to be serious.

The preliminary investigation indicates an outside altercation among subjects escalated into a shooting, and that there were multiple shooters. While on scene and during the initial investigation, officers located three handguns in the backyards of two residences.

Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to notify the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
