Shooting Investigation – 600 Block of Teal Cove Court

On Jan. 21, 2021, at approximately 12:02 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 600 Block of Teal Cove Court for reports of shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his back. He was transported to a local hospital and immediately taken into surgery. His injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was traveling on foot when he was struck by gunfire that was discharged from inside a moving vehicle. Police are currently processing the crime scene and interviewing possible witnesses.

Any resident or business in the nearby areas with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
