On December 28, 2020, at approximately 4:46 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the 2000 block of Moreland Boulevard for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive 36-year-old female victim inside of a vehicle suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot multiple times by the suspect(s) while seated inside of a parked vehicle. Police are currently processing the crime scene and interviewing possible witnesses. No arrests have been made at this time.
Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. The investigation is ongoing, and future updates may be provided as they become available.
