Champaign Police Investigating Early Evening Homicide

On November 12, 2020, at approximately 5:17 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the area of the 600 block of East Eureka Street for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to a local hospital; however, he did not survive his injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggests the juvenile was with others inside of a private residence when an unknown suspect(s) fired into the home, fatally striking the victim. As police were arriving on scene, additional gunfire was reported in the area, however no additional victims have been reported. Police are currently processing the crime scene and interviewing possible witnesses. No arrests have been made at this time.
