On October 7, 2020, at approximately 11:43 p.m., Champaign Police arrested Demerio Hilson, 34, of Champaign, for his alleged involvement in an Oct. 4, 2020, shooting. Hilson was arrested in the 1200 block of Paula Drive, Champaign, on several weapon-related offenses.
On Oct. 4, 2020, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the area of Hickory Street and Bellefontaine Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to a lower extremity. Officers provided medical aid and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Following his arrest, Hilson was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center where he is awaiting future court proceedings.
