Shooting Investigation – 4th Street and Beardsley Avenue

On Sept. 5, 2020, at approximately 7:29 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the area of 4th Street and Beardsley Avenue for reports of shots heard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 40 shell casings of different caliber near the intersection and located a 25-year-old male victim with potential life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

Champaign Police are actively working to identify the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Any resident or business in the nearby areas with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Future updates may be provided as they become available.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for these crimes.
