The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a home at 3920 Rockdale Dr., Sunday, July 5, 2020, at 3:34 a.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in the single-family residence.
Firefighters responded to a report from an occupant of a fire in the two-story home. Once on the scene, firefighters reported smoke and flames coming from the garage. Firefighters entered the structure with multiple hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire contained to the garage and attic of the home.
The cause of this fire is undetermined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported. Six people were home at the time of the fire. The occupants will be displaced as a result of the damage.
The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
