On May 21, 2020, at approximately 2:02 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the area of 200 S. Country Fair Drive for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Ultimately, the victim did not survive his injuries and he was pronounced dead on scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates a group of individuals gathered at a nearby apartment. During the gathering, shots were fired inside the apartment, striking the victim, prompting numerous individuals to flee from the scene. Police are currently processing the crime scene and interviewing possible witnesses. No arrests have been made at this time.
