Today, the City of Champaign announced additional service changes to promote social distancing and to proactively support the prevention and management of COVID-19. Changes are temporary, and an announcement will be made once the City is able to return to normal business.
The Code Compliance Division (Neighborhood Services) is suspending all inspections except for cases involving life safety concerns. Inspections will still be performed for cases involving issues that may render the dwelling unit unfit for human occupancy (i.e. lack of heat, lack of utilities, structural damage, fire damage, etc.). All complaints will be logged, and inspections will continue in the future; although, residents should be prepared for an increased wait time for the inspection.
For questions or additional information, please contact Neighborhood Services at firstname.lastname@example.org or 217-403-7070.
Planning and Development will be suspending zoning enforcement for matters not related to public safety and welfare unless time permits otherwise. All additional services will continue but will be conducted under work-from-home conditions. Residents should prepare for service delivery to potentially be slowed under these circumstances.
The City reminds the public to visit champaignil.gov/covid-19/ for the latest suspensions, service changes and City updates. We continue to thank the community for its patience and understanding as we work through these challenges together.
