On Feb. 3, 2020, at approximately 2:49 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1300 block of Mariner Way for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive 33-year-old male inside a vehicle suffering from a single, life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to a local hospital and rushed into surgery but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was seated inside a parked vehicle when the suspect approached, fired into the vehicle and then drove away from the scene.
As the investigation progressed, Champaign Police developed information to identify the suspect as D’Andre Miller, 33, of Champaign. In connection to the homicide, the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for the offense of First-Degree Murder for Miller. Bond on the warrant was set at $2 million.
Miller is described as a black male, 6 feet 3 inches tall and approximately 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
