Suspect Arrested in Jan. 21, 2019, Shooting Investigation

On. Jan. 17, 2020, at approximately 10:29 a.m., the United States Marshals Service with assistance from the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force arrested Demaris Miner, 32, of Urbana, in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Urbana without incident. Miner had an outstanding Champaign County arrest warrant for the offense of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Bond on the warrant was set at $150,000.

The investigation conducted by the Champaign Police Department identified Miner as the suspect in a Jan. 21, 2019, shooting investigation. A 20-year-old male suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound as a result of the shooting, which occurred in the 2000 block of North Market Street following a verbal argument.

Miner was transported to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office where he is awaiting future court proceedings.
