Finance Department Staff Present at IGFOA Conference

City of Champaign Finance Department staff members Kay Nees and Jennifer Johnson recently attended the annual Illinois Government Finance Officers Association Conference.  The conference was held in Bloomington, Illinois, and the theme was “Achieving Excellence Together”.  Kay and Jennifer also presented the topic, “Online Payments for Self-Reported Taxes” where they shared information on developing a policy for online payments and working with various payment processors.  They provided a brief demonstration on the functionality of the software as well.

The Finance Department recently implemented Tyler Munis software allowing self-reporting businesses (Food & Beverage, Local Motor Fuel, and Hotel-Motel establishments) to remit tax returns and payments online.  This was a major accomplishment as there are very few (if any) other municipalities in Illinois providing this service.  Learn more about self-reported tax payments on the City’s Finance Department webpage.
