On May 13, 2019, more than 300 people attended the CommUnity Matters Spring Fling at Garden Hills Elementary School. This free event provided awareness about health, wellness, safety, summer camp opportunities and other community resources available to families. In addition to the resource information sharing, kids enjoyed face painting, balloons, a bounce house, and a bike rodeo. Free food and drinks and a raffle drawing were also provided.
More than 30 vendors were on site, including: Carle Mobile Health Clinic, Champaign County Health Care Consumers, Champaign Fire, SLEEP – Champaign NSD/RPC/Ameren Illinois, Champaign Park District Summer Camps, Champaign Police, Champaign Public Library, Community Plus Credit Union, Courage Connection, Crisis Nursery, Don Moyer, DREAAM House, First Federal Bank, Healthy Beginnings- Carle, Home Depot, Lifeline Inc, Operation Hope, Promise HealthCare, Public Health – WIC, Public Health – Great Start, RPC- ISC and Youth Assessment Center, RPC – Head Start, The Land Connection – Farmers Market, Unit 4 Parent Liaison, Unit 4 Vision and Hearing, United Garden Hills Neighborhood Association, Sola Gratia Farm, Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, Bristol Place Leasing, CU MTD Bike Rodeo, NAACP, SNAP-Ed, Champaign County Bikes, and Parent CommUniversity.
