Police Seek Assistance in Shooting Investigations

This evening, at approximately 6:29 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 800 block of South State Street after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, police found a residence in the 800 block of South State Street that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. No injuries were reported at this location.

A short time later at approximately 7:53 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 300 block of W. Bradley Ave. after receiving reports of gunfire with a possible victim. Upon arrival, police located an 18-year-old male with a serious injury consistent with a gunshot wound.

Champaign Police are processing evidence from both scenes and are actively working to identify the circumstances leading up to both incidents. At this time, police are working to determine a motive and whether the incidents are related. There is no suspect information available at this time.
